"Enjoy your new powers" was the headline for Slide Products' ad insert promoting a rust preventive treatment for injection molding. Stillwater Creative Group's Bill Creighton came up with the idea of showing a mold technician repelling an onslaught of water from a mischevious prankster. We cast Kevin Lingle as the bucket slinger and Brad Armacost as the confident fellow on the right, both from Ford Models Chicago.
Shot on two different days, the two characters had to take their cues from their imaginary partners. We shot Kevin throwing the water first, on a water containment set that allowed bucketfuls to be flung vigorously without creating a mess. Many gallons of flying water later, we had the pieces we needed to construct the shaped gusher for Brad to 'repel' two days later. Brad's shoot was a bit drier, and he contributed the affable everyman look we've used before for this client.
The two actors' images, along with multiple takes of flying water, were then combined and output as the finished result above. Many thanks to all who helped, and particularly Kevin who also had to endure a little backsplash!
