Intertec Publishing art director Georgina Alexakis needed a photograph that expressed the idea of creative shaping as part of a media kit for Wireless Review.
A few ideas were kicked around, and the metaphor of carving stone into a human face fit the bill. Rather than going to the considerable expense of having a sculpture made, the photo was composed digitally from studio photography of a marble cube, a small statue and a stone chisel. These items were joined in Photoshop, and the chisel given a bit of blur along with the flying chips. A ground shadow and some extra bits of debris completed the shot, which was delivered on disk, on budget and ahead of schedule.
