Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love

For this whimsical take on the freedom of truck ownership, Mary Fawcett of Mad Dog Marketing conceived a series of ads for the financing subsidiary of Schneider National trucking company. The ads showed outlandishly decorated and outfitted trucks to illustrate perhaps not what an owner-operator would do, but certainly could.

To "dress" the truck in the manner of a certain Memphis native, we started by retouching existing photography of a red truck to digitally repaint it white. Then various studs, sequins, rhinestones, belt buckles, and even a Vegas show outfit were meticulously photographed in studio, along with a studded silk scarf created for the occasion.

The microphone 'mirrors' were accomplished by locating a classic '50s Shure mic and photographing it to match the perspective and lighting of the truck shot. The cape was created from white leatherette and sequin fabric, and gold beadwork from the Vegas show outfit applied digitally.

Once the entire truck was festooned with glitz, it was given a drop shadow and placed below the "Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love" headline, with the scarf added at the bottom of the page.

Thank you very much.
